Ex Pilot still fixing planes at 101!
Born during the First World War, an eagle-eyed pensioner is still inspecting planes at the age of 101. Although former pilot Ernie Horsfall can’t get insured to take the controls himself due to his age, he continues to run his eye over the machines to make sure they’ve been built properly. With over 3,000 hours flying experience, Ernie’s role with the Light Aircraft Association (LAA) sees him offer advice to aviators and acts as the ‘last line of defence’ before planes are signed off.
