Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia: Local groups that offer support and advice
The Joint Dementia Initiative (JDI) Home from Home service is where people with a diagnosis of dementia can come together in small groups in a homely environment. It gives you the chance to meet people who are having similar experiences to you. A referral from Social Work Services is needed. Contact Social work on 01324 506070 to ask for an assessment.
Other groups run several times a week and at various times, these group do not need a referral from Social Work. They only require a confirmation of your diagnosis and for you to complete the Referral Form that can be found at jointdementiainitiative.com/groups/ The groups offer people with a diagnosis to come along and meet with others.
