Low vision: Low Vision Aids that may help with day-to-day tasks
NHS Forth Valley alongside Falkirk Council and Stirling Council provide low vision clinics within Forth Valley Sensory Centre. These clinics are fully staffed by an Ophthalmologist, Optometrist, Orthoptist, Ophthalmic Nurse and a member of staff from Sensory Services Social Work team.
Attending the low vision clinic will provide a very accurate understanding of your level of residual vision, advice on better use of the vision you have, and the best optical or electronic aids. People are referred to the low vision clinic by their GP but if you feel you would benefit from an assessment, then please contact the Sensory Services Social Work team to arrange an appointment. If you have not had a sight test recently the best first step for you may be to visit a high street Optician. If the Optician tells you that your sight cannot be improved with ordinary glasses, you can then ask you GP to refer you to the Low Vision Clinic.
