Community alarm and telecare services
The Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) provides a prompt response to alarm calls from people using pull-cord systems, dispersed alarms or telecare equipment in their own home. For more information, please visit www.falkirk.gov.uk.

Local information - organisations that help the visually impaired
Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a local independent charity for people with Sensory Loss. The centre has a computer suite equipped with software specifically for visually impaired people and classes are available. There is also a resource area displaying equipment designed to help people with visual impairment which can be purchased online.

Local Information - Support for people with a visual impairment
The Sensory Team can help if you, a friend or family member need help coping with being blind or having a visual impairment. We can provide support to help make everyday living easier.
This includes assessing your needs and helping you get equipment to keep you safe and independent, training to help you manage in your home or get out and about again, as well as help with reading mail and going shopping.

Services or organisations that provide equipment for people with a visual impairment
The Sensory Team and RNIB Scotland provide a range of equipment to support people with visual impairment. RNIB have a display within Forth Valley Sensory Centre where equipment can be viewed. If equipment is not available from The Sensory Team, it can be ordered from RNIB directly.

Independent Sources for Help and Advice
Large print books
All libraries in the Falkirk area have collections of Large Print books for free loan. Visit your local library or check online at www.falkirkcommunitytrust.org/libraries.
The RNIB also provide free reading services. For more information visit www.rnib.org.uk.
Alternatively Forth Valley Sensory Centre support people with visual or hearing loss, and the wider community can access quality services and advice from their partner organisations.
